This is a 12-credit point unit taken during the final semester of enrolment in the course. It is a work placement opportunity that provides students with real-world work experience in a professional environment with a host organisation. Students have the opportunity to undergo a defined program of work that is agreed between the Academy and the host organisation, and which achieves the desired learning outcomes of the unit. Students apply the knowledge and skills attained throughout the course to hands-on professional activities that develop creative solutions to real-world problems. Students will be assigned an academic supervisor through AAHE and a workplace supervisor who is an experienced staff member of the host organisation. Together they will guide and assess student learning and their application of theoretical knowledge, technical skills and professional conduct in an industry-based environment.

Apply discipline specific knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems in a professional environment
Clearly present a coherent exposition of the problems faced, methods applied and professional decisions taken on complex theoretical and technical cybersecurity issues whilst on work placement to specialist and non-specialist audiences
Demonstrate ability to interpret and respond to feedback and reflect on personal work experiences during placement
Apply acquired cybersecurity competencies in meeting stakeholder goals through active engagement, teamwork and collaboration in a professional manner that demonstrates an excellent work ethic

On average students will spend 260 hours undertaking real-world project work on placement with a host organisation along with learning and assessment activities throughout the semester.
