Systems Analysis for Cybersecurity provides students with the requisite knowledge and skills to design complex cybersecurity systems through systematic workflows. The unit comprises fundamental components of systems analysis including, objects, users, interfacing and business system lifecycle – planning, analysis, design and implementation. Various modelling techniques for systems analysis are covered, such as systems and project management, requirements modelling, data and process modelling, and use case design and modelling. Other topics include use case and misuse case design and development, and strategies for system modelling, all from a cybersecurity perspective.

Explain fundamental concepts of systems analysis, including techniques, tools and target computing platforms
Define and test functional and non-functional user and system requirements for IT systems for use and misuse cases
Apply analytical skills to evaluate business system user requirements
Perform a secure systems analysis and design application for a real-world IT system

On average students will spend 130 hours undertaking learning and assessment activities throughout the semester.

Scheduled classroom activities 3 hours per week
Independent learning, collaboration and assessment tasks 7 hours per week
